The guide awaits you at the Genova Principe station to go up with the historical rack railway up to the hill of the Port of Genoa. Get off at the Granarolo terminus, a quiet hamlet characterized by small villas, forts and historic powder magazines and known for a fantastic unusual panorama over the city of Genoa.
From here begins an easy walk that takes you on the traces of the Roman road, the Via Postumia that connects Genoa to Aquileia in a distance of about 930 km. Descend along an ancient brick paving and reach Bolzaneto.
